From June until October, Rise Candle Collective is proud to support an organization that makes a difference in women's lives every day, the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. The women that access this safe haven are marginalized simply for the color of their skin, gender, sexual preference, occupation, religious beliefs or situation they were born into. My 9-5 where I've worked for the last 5 years is on the DTES and has given me a small glimpse into the harsh reality that many live every day. After doing some reading of my own, I've learned so much about the women who live in the community and rely on the resources at the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.
